Actor
Talent Details

A trained actor, screenplay writer, director & former computer engineer, with a diploma in method acting from The Jeff Goldberg Studio, Divesh maintains a keen interest in traveling, theatre and history. He enjoys his role as an actor and is happiest when he gets to offer his personal emotional energy to any project. He spent his formative years in Mumbai and graduated from Mumbai University with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering. It was during his time in engineering college that he discovered his passion for acting, and would look forward to performing in and winning several mono-acting competitions and plays, as part of various cultural festivals. During this time, he also took a screenwriting course from the University of Michigan and attained top honors with a grade of 97%. After completing his engineering, Divesh worked for three years in the IT industry, before ultimately choosing to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He thereafter enrolled at the Jeff Goldberg Method Acting Studio, where he underwent intensive training in method acting, learning about its different approaches, such as those espoused by Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg & Sanford Meisner, and applying them in scene work and monologues. All this culminated in his theatrical debut - 'Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters,' for which, he received unanimous acclaim for portraying a 59 year old. During the pandemic, he dabbled extensively in Shakespeare, by being a part of a Shakespeare reading group with fellow actors. All this culminated in an online play - 'Straight Outta Stratford: An Evening With The Bard,' for which, he was widely appreciated for his dark turn as Macbeth by a houseful audience that had tuned in from all over the world. In addition to this, he spent the entirety of the pandemic focusing on honing his craft by self taping monologues. What followed was a series of one-act plays, for which he slowly and steadily built a loyal audience, but his first major breakthrough came about with 'William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar,' where his portrayal of Casca was widely regarded as the scene-stealer performance of the show. More recognition was soon to follow with the short film - 'The Divine,' which he acted, directed & edited himself. His next breakthrough came about with the ensemble play 'Almost, Maine' and the web series 'Bhrakshak.' For both these projects, he lost an astonishing 15 kgs and was deemed by many in the audience as unrecognizable. He then went on to make the widely popular, zero-budget short film 'Karmic Catharsis,' which he wrote, directed, acted and edited. He capped this off with yet another Anton Chekhov play - 'The Cherry Orchard,' where his turn as the iconic anti-hero Lopakhin was hailed by many as a revelation. Divesh himself regards this to be his favourite role so far, describing his character arc from a rising foal to a raging stallion, as highly inspiring. At present, Divesh remains occupied with his upcoming projects, including the short film - 'Am I Not A Madman?' and the feature film - 'Two Harmonic Lives,' in which, he will be playing his first lead role in a feature film, as well as essaying his first double role. It's an English-French bilingual, and he has dedicated two years to also writing the screenplay, in addition to learning French. The screenplay recently won an award in the International Screenwriting Category at The Jaipur International Film Festival. This same project is being pitched to several international co-production houses in France, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Canada, with Quebec Film & Television Council(QFTC) taking an active interest.
